THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - September 4, 2019 (LSN) The Central Canada Charity Ride (formerly the Caribou Charity Ride) is back for another year, thanks to Wayne Maunula and Central Canada Industries’ support of this popular event! The Organizing Committee invites the media to take photos/footage of the cyclists at the event this Saturday when hundreds of cyclists will be riding together in a journey that provides hope for cancer patients in Northwestern Ontario.
Participants in the Central Canada Charity Ride cycle either a 40, 60 or 100 km road course through Oliver Paipoonge Township, originating from Belluz Farms. Multiple riders have chosen to raise pledges for the Northern Cancer Fund as part of their ride experience.
Saturday, September 7, 2019 9:00 a.m. – Start of 60 & 100 km routes 10:30 a.m. – Start of 40 km route Belluz Farms, 752 Candy Mountain Drive
Note: remarks to riders will take place prior to each route start. Event takes place rain or shine. Media are welcome to interview riders prior to the start of each ride. Committee member John Sims, along with Dr. Stewart Kennedy, Executive Vice President, Medical, Academics & Regional Programs, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre will be available for interviews.
The community-led event is in support of the Health Sciences Foundation’s Northern Cancer Fund. Donors to the Northern Cancer Fund are putting state-of-the-art equipment in the hands of our cancer care professionals so the people of Northwestern Ontario have the very best opportunity to survive cancer, close to home.
