Cambrian Players presenting a socially distanced theatrical experience

a heartfelt and charming experience

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~   March 13, 2021  (LSN)  Cambrian Players is excited to be presenting a socially distanced theatrical experience with their upcoming production of Love/Sick by John Cariani. This production will be live-streamed from the Cambrian Players’ theatre, with audiences not needing to leave their quarantine to support local theatre.

Cambrian Players and director Thomas McDonald have brought together a cast of eighteen local actors performing in their bubbles. “The challenge was to find the right play that was both entertaining and moving but could be staged and rehearsed via Zoom,” said McDonald. “The production team have done an amazing job adapting Love/Sick into what is basically a television show streamed safely live from 8 separate sets featuring these wonderfully talented and adaptable actors performing within their own bubbles, distanced from other teams of actors and crew.”

Cariani’s Love/Sick is a wild and wacky look at love, much like its sister play, Almost, Maine, performed by Cambrian in May/June of 2018. In Love/Sick, audiences will look at the couples behind a suburban neighbourhood’s closed doors. Yet, white picket fence romances aren’t the stories we will see. We see nine short stories’ laughs and struggles as characters find and lose love, reconnect, and ask and answer tough questions.

Cambrian Players regular Andrea Jacobsen, who is playing the role of Abbie, said on acting in this digital production: “I am getting a wonderful opportunity to get back to treading real boards in tandem with my wife, Shannon, who is a brand new actor. She agreed to participate, somewhat warily, as we needed people in personal bubbles, especially for some of the more intimate scenes. Since then, I’ve watched her grow and play, going through the new actor’s fears  of forgetting lines and ‘what the heck do I do with my hands?’ I could not have asked for a more wonderful chance to get back in front of an audience, even if they are on the other side of a camera!”

Cambrian Players Lover Sick

This production will leave audiences with a heartfelt and charming experience.

Cambrian Players have reached out to many local businesses to create Love/Sick ticket bundles. Whether it is a meal, a snack, or something to drink, an audience member can support their favourite local shops and create a memorable night indoors.

Love/Sick will be streaming on April 3rd at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are available at www.showtix4u.com/events/cambrian. Follow Cambrian Players on Facebook and Instagram for updates on this and future productions and ticket bundle details.
