THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO CLEVELAND, OHIO ~~~~~~ January 19, 2022 (LSNews) Shipments of iron ore on the Great Lakes totaled 4.5 million tons in December, a decrease of 2.8 percent compared to a year ago. Shipments were also below the 5-year average for the month by 10.7 percent.
The year-end total for the iron ore trade stands at 51.6 million tons, an increase of 25.2 percent compared to 2020.
Compared to the trade’s 5-year average, 2021 iron ore loadings were up 1.2 percent.
