Unique Carousel Auction Launched

Own a Piece of History – Save a Piece of History

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  April 14, 2021  (LSN)  “We are excited to announce a one-of-a-kind, online auction to raise funds to complete the restoration of our 106-year-old C.W. Parker Carousel” reported Bonnie McNulty, Co-Chair of the Save Our Carousel Committee.

The unique auction will feature a range of carefully chosen items that relate specifically to our carousel.

According to McNulty, a key part of the auction will be four limited edition framed prints of original carousel horses drawn and hand painted by world renowned carousel expert Lisa Parr: Old Parr Inc. In addition, there are five smaller and matted coloured drawings of the unique horses. Each print is designed, professionally reproduced, matted and/or framed by local artist Biljana Baker, Artistic Consultant to the carousel restoration.

Also, two key pieces of the C.W. Parker Carousel are up for auction – a rustic mirror frame from the rounding boards and a Shadow Box Framed Set of stirrups and reins from a Carousel Horse. These pieces are ones that have been replaced through the restoration process.

Carousel Art is also featured in the auction with an original carousel horse watercolour painting “Escape to the Forest” by local artist Thelma Molkoski and a Vintage Curtis Jere 3-Horse Carousel Metal Wall Sculpture - Mid Century Modern Art.

Carousel Cuff-style bracelets specially designed by Biljana Baker are also up for auction.

The auction will also include a variety of gift baskets of carousel memorabilia and a chance for a personal history tour of the Carousel and the park.

“We are pleased to offer this unique opportunity to share the Carousel with the members of the community” said Save Our Carousel Co-Chair, Bonnie McNulty, “and in doing so provide yet another opportunity for people to help contribute to the complete restoration of our living museum.”

Registration is now open for those who wish to participate, and all of the auction items are available for viewing at Chi.

The auction bidding opens on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:00 AM and closes at 10 PM on Friday, April 30.

All proceeds will support the ongoing restoration of the C.W. Parker Carousel at Chippewa Park.

Very High Fire Danger Across Wisconsin

James Brown 0 278 Article rating: No rating

MADISON, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~~~~  May 14, 2021  (LSN)  The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking the public to stay vigilant and avoid burning because of very high fire danger across Wisconsin, particularly in the northern two-thirds of the state.

The increased fire danger is due to the low relative humidities expected across the state, with the lowest values expected across northern Wisconsin. Temperatures will be warm and the air over Wisconsin will be dry, which are weather conditions that aid in the spread of fires.
