Sault Ste Marie ART X PROJECT

City of Sault Ste. Marie/Future SSM and The Downtown Association

SAULT STE MARIE, ONTARIO  ~~~  November 2, 2021  (LSNews)  Rolling Pictures, the City of Sault Ste. Marie/Future SSM and The Downtown Association, in partnership, are excited to present the on-going ART X PROJECT with the last exhibition of the 2021 season, to be held November 11 - 12 from 6-10 pm with mid-week showings Tuesdays and Thursdays for one month. A special show Nov 26th will be held in combination with the opening night of the Sault Film Festival

This show is curated by Annie King and hosted by Robert Peace and Rolling Pictures with support from the City of Sault Ste Marie and the Downtown Association. The exhibition features the work of local Indigenous artists, storytellers and musicians. Artists include Amber Waboose, Adrienne Beaupre, Christina Bekintis, Dakota Cress and Thomas Sinclair. The Garden River Lands Department along with Robert Peace will also be launching a Coffee Table Book celebrating the land and people of Garden River.

"We have a lot happening in this our most ambitious show to date, '' says Rolling Pictures Community Relations Director Robert Peace. We have brought together art, music, storytelling and photography all into one show to celebrate the Indigenous culture in the Sault and surrounding area.

The Book titled "From The Eagle's Eye...A perspective of Ketegaunseebee" is a joint project of Rolling Pictures, Robert Peace and Garden River First Nations.

"The Creator has truly blessed the people of Garden River with the land that we live on, '' says Garden River Chief Andy Rickard. "Through the words of our elders and the images in these pages, I hope we may appreciate the wonderful gift the Creator has entrusted us."

“We are very excited to continue to support and grow the Art X project. The project is a tremendous platform for helping local artists build their practices through networking, portfolio building, exhibition development, promotion as well as sales and commissions.” Says Todd Fleet, Arts & Culture Coordinator for the City of SSM. “This Art X we are celebrating our Indigenous heritage with a culturally rich and diverse program and we look forward to continuing to grow these opportunities in the community”.

Tickets for the event are free with donations accepted at the door. The Coffee Table Book is available for $39.99 at the event or by order. Tickets are available at or by calling 647 778 6696
