Salvation Army Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday

Drive-Thru & Walk-Up

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO   ~~  October 4, 2021  (LSNews) Thunder Bay Fire Fighters Peal Potatoes for a second year due to the pandemic, the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association and The Salvation Army are offering a Thanksgiving Dinner to the lonely and needy in Thunder Bay by a drive-thru or walk-up at the front entrance.  Unfortunately, in order to ensure everyone’s safety we are unable to offer a sit-down meal again this year.

On Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association will serve a turkey dinner in takeout containers from the front of The Salvation Army Journey to Life Centre, 545 Cumberland St. N.

For 24 years, it has become a tradition for the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association along with family members to provide the meal and then to serve at the dinner to make this a special day for those attending.  As the pandemic continues , they feel it is even more important support the community in this way and have worked with The Salvation Army to provide it in a safe way.  This generous contribution to our community from the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association is much appreciated by The Salvation Army and those who will partake in this special Thanksgiving celebration.

Poverty and homelessness are ongoing problems in Thunder Bay.  “So many of us have a lot to be thankful for - and it’s great to share with others who don’t have the opportunity for a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner.  This dinner is only possible because of our partnership with the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association and their families who take time out of their own festivities to help their neighbours,” said Gary Ferguson, Executive Director of The Salvation Army Community & Residential Services.

The dinner is offered free to any who are in need or feeling lonely.  We invite them to come and get a meal that they can enjoy at home.
