Nominations invited for the Sault Ste. Marie Walk of Fame

SAULT STE MARIE, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  February 25, 2021  (LSN)  Nominations for the 2021 Sault Ste. Marie Walk of Fame Award are now being accepted by the Walk of Fame Selection Committee.

The Walk of Fame Award recognizes individuals who have achieved provincial, national or international excellence in a competitive athletic endeavour or cultural, academic or humanitarian field. Nominees must have been born in Sault Ste. Marie or lived in the city or surrounding area during their lifetime.

Nomination forms are available online at SaultSteMarie.ca/walkoffame. Completed nomination forms and supporting documents can be emailed to cityclerk@cityssm.on.ca or dropped off at the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre.

The deadline for nominations is March 31, 2021.

This is a joint project of the City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Downtown Association.

We will have a short ceremony to recognize all the hard work and achievements the interns have put in this year, as well as recognition for the businesses of Superior who partnered with us. After the ceremony, a lunch will be provided for family, friends, and partners to enjoy the last day of the program, until next year.

Chippewa County Health Department vaccinating crew members on the Great Lakes’ area ships

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, MICHIGAN  ~~~~~~  April 9, 2021  (LSN)  This past week Chippewa County Health Department (CCHD) was approached by the Lake Carriers’ Association and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to collaborate on vaccinating crew members on the Great Lakes’ area ships. Since that proposal which was presented on Monday, CCHD staff will have vaccinated approximately 50 crew members on five ships with additional crew members to be vaccinated next week. The crews are receiving Johnson & Johnson vaccine and second dose Moderna vaccine.

The 2021 spring turkey hunt includes six, seven-day periods running Wednesday through the following Tuesday. Each of the DNR’s seven turkey management zones will be open for hunting.
