Heathers the musical takes to the Paramount stage

Paramount Theatre from November 25-27 @ 7:00 pm

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~  November 24, 2021 (LSNews)  Paramount Live is proud to present Heathers the musical. Heathers is the darkly delicious musical theatre treat to start their season of performances. “Heathers is a show about Veronica Sawyer who is a teenage misfit doing all she can to fit in” said Jessica Smith who plays Veronica in the production. “She ends up getting an opportunity to join the Heathers which is basically the 1980’s version of the well known Mean Girls.  After an incident, Veronica gets kicked out of the group.

Extremely hurt by this she runs to psycho new kid JD who she is beginning to fall in love with. As time goes by, she realizes JD isn’t at all who she thought he was. He wants to make the world a better place, but not in the way you’d think.”Jessica said that “ It’s been a pleasure to be apart of such a new age, emotional and raw musical production that reflects a lot amongst what teenagers my own age are going through. I’ve been performing at Paramount Live for almost 10 years and I’ve never performed in such a mature, deep show before. It’s truly a great experience knowing that the cast as well as myself all have a love for this show and the message it sends.”

Heathers is the first musical for Paramount Live since the pandemic shut down. Heathers is presented by the senior actors and directed by Candi Badanai and Tegin Menei of the theatre school. This show opens their winter season of performances.

Tegin Menei is happy to join the directing team and said “After being a cast member of several Badanai Theatre shows, and an audience member for many Paramount shows, I’m excited to say that this is my first time co-directing a Paramount Live show with Candi Badanai.” “It has been such a pleasure working with so many of the kids I’ve watched perform onstage for years, and to see how much they’ve perfected their gifts and matured, especially after having not seen them since lockdown. Along with our familiar cast members you’ve come to love and adore, we have several new faces that light up the stage and fit into this cohesive unit our kids have created just perfectly” tegin said. “I’m so grateful for the positive experience they have made for me while learning the ropes, which I could not have done without Candi Badanai there to guide me along the way. Her countless years of experience both as a performer and a director are evident as well as her passion for creating magic with these kids every time she takes on a new production. I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish as an amazing duo, and can’t wait to see how the audience responds to our Heathers.”

HEATHERS The Musical plays the Paramount Theatre from November 25-27 @ 7:00 pm and tickets can be purchased online at https://paramountlive.eventbrite.ca/
