FWFN ANNOUNCES COVID-19 VACCINE CLINICS

Thursday and Friday of this week

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~~   February 23, 2021  (LSN) Fort William First Nation (FWFN) is excited to formally announce the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine through a set of two clinics running in the community on Thursday and Friday of this week, located at the Fort William First Nation Community Centre, 400 Anemki Drive.

“I couldn’t be more relieved to hear that our community of Fort William First Nation, will be receiving these life saving vaccines. I encourage everyone to register for an appointment through our COVID-19 hotline, by calling or emailing to set up your appointment. I do not want to waste a single drop of this vaccine and it is my hope that this is a step in the right direction that will provide protection and save lives.” states, Chief Peter Collins, Fort William First Nation.

The COVID-19 vaccine will be available to those who are highest risk for severe illness from the virus; they have been chosen to be the first to be offered this protective vaccine.
• FWFN registered members 55+ (Elders)
• Individuals with underlying health issues and or disabilities
• FWFN registered members 16+
• FWFN community members 16+

The distribution of the vaccine will be a series of two doses and are scheduled between 19-42 days between doses, the minimum spacing of doses is 19 days, the recommended spacing is 21 days and the maximum spacing is 42 days. Fort William First Nation is conducting registrations for the first dose to plan for the number that will be needed during the clinic.

Registrations can be made by calling the FWFN COVID-19 hotline at 807.698.0415 or via email at covid19@fwfn.com. You will be contact with your appointment date and time.

“This is a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19 and the protection of the community of Fort William First Nation. I would like to thank all of the front line workers and everyone who has worked so diligently for the health and well being of our members. It is vitally important that we remember to follow all of the recommendations from our Medical Officer of Health, stay home and only leave for essential services.” says, Chief Executive Officer, Michael D. Pelletier.
