Cancellation of Shenandoah Concert

Cancellation of Shenandoah Concert

Shenandoah Summer Concert Two Harbors Aug. 20

TWO HARBORS, MINNESOTA  ~~~~  August 11, 2022 (LSNews)  It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of the upcoming Rockin’ the Docks with Shenandoah Summer Concert scheduled to take place in Two Harbors on Aug. 20.

Difficulties securing a liquor/beverage vendor for the event, due in part to the magnitude of the event and limited availability of some local vendors, led to a solution being delayed by the contracted event organizer. After approaching another local provider to offer them the business, unfortunately the event organizer was treated so poorly by the prospective vendor that they have opted to pull out of the event, making it impossible to proceed.

It is disheartening to witness this kind of treatment from some of our local community when being offered an opportunity. We do not believe that’s who we are in Two Harbors and Lake County, and the unprofessional and negative behavior taking place around the logistics of this event does not represent the ideals of Lovin’ Lake County. We understand that the promoter faced challenges on the timeline; however, people make mistakes and are human, and rather than move ahead with a solution that was not local, an opportunity was given to another local business. Rather than find a way to make it work, this particular business felt the need to mistreat all who are involved, take to social media with misinformation and fuel an already stressed and emotional community. The concert promoter, who has a long history of putting on much larger successful events around the region, was treated such that it wasn’t worth it for them to continue with the event. This is a sad state of affairs as now nobody wins. Community division is not helpful and malevolent behavior towards individuals, businesses and organizations is unacceptable.

A significant number of tickets have been sold to-date and all will be refunded. If you purchased tickets in-person, please bring your tickets to the Chamber of Commerce office and a refund will be issued. Tickets purchased electronically will be refunded automatically; however, processing may take some time. Your patience with refunds is appreciated.

It is our hope that we as a community can learn from this experience and see the importance of treating people with compassion, respect and dignity. Additionally, it is our hope that social media can be reserved for the positive promotion of the many great assets Two Harbors and Lake County have to offer. This unfortunate scenario is a good reminder to have all the facts in a situation before reacting and getting others negatively riled up. Our community has been through a lot recently and it is important to give each other grace.

Lovin’ Lake County welcomes and invites all people to enjoy our beautiful natural resources and Lake Superior’s majestic North Shore. We remain dedicated to our mission to promote and grow tourism through marketing and events to stimulate Lake County’s economy and enhance the quality of life for its residents while protecting the area’s natural resources.
