Campfire Comedy is bringing stand-up comedy back to Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  March 24, 2022 (LSNews)  Campfire Comedy is bringing stand-up comedy back to Thunder Bay in a big way!

We have an incredible lineup of shows planned for the first half of 2022 with more to come and we continue to offer private shows all year round for anyone looking to liven up their next party or work event.

UPCOMING SHOWS:

  •  Saturday May 14thJon Dore @ Davinci Centre (7PM/945PM

Jon Dore is an award-winning Canadian comic best known for writing, acting and hilarious antics in his hit TV show THE JON DORE SHOW. In addition to recently wrapping his stand-up special for Comedy Central, he was the series lead in the CBS Pilot THE HALF OF IT, played a memorable guest star role on CBS' Emmy Award-winning hit series HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, and played a lead role on ABC’s HOW TO LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS.

Dore has had multiple guest appearances on CONAN, BARONESS VON SKETCH SHOW, @MIDNIGHT, INSIDE AMY SCHUMER and HART OF DIXIE. His film credits include CORPSE TUB, STAG, TEEN LUST, THE PICKLE RECIPE opposite Lynn Cohen, and the indie film GUS. In addition to acting, Dore has an impressive writing resume that also includes CBC's HUMOUR RESOURCES, JUST FOR LAUGHS, and HBO's popular FUNNY AS HELL.

You can also see Jon host eight episodes of THE STAND UP SHOW on the Comedy Network and performance from July 2019’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.

  • Saturday June 18thDarren Frost & Kenny Robinson’s Rank & Vile Tour @ Davinci Centre (time TBD)

A double headlining show with Darren ”Little Man Hate” Frost and Kenny “The Raging Bull of Comedy” Robinson is coming to Thunder Bay. Veterans of the Canadian comedy circuit with festivals, TV shows, movies and a fist full of rave reviews under their belts, Kenny and Darren are known across the country for their profane opinionated brand of “in your face” style and social commentary. With sold out shows at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and with a combined 50 years of comedy experience in Canada, this show is bound to push your buttons and expand your horizons. The most outrageous, fearless, and laugh provoking material blasting from their mouths that you won’t hear on a comedy stage anywhere else.

Mark Menei:
Mark was named 'Best Comedian' in the Walleye magazine and can be seen locally in commercials for The Power Centre when not headlining private and public shows. Mark is a high energy comic who integrates the crowd into all of his performances so expect the unexpected every time he hits the stage. Mark is also the owner of Campfire Comedy and continues to grow the brand and bring top notch entertainment to his hometown of Thunder Bay.

I had been writing/performing stand-up comedy for approximately 5 years when the pandemic hit and shortly after began producing and headlining my own shows. The shows were all backyard shows at the time and as venues began to reopen, I ventured into the public show territory and began selling out shows at local bars.

We just had our first large public show in early March with the amazing Bobby Knauff headlining the Paramount Theatre and it was an incredible success.

We have a few more big shows lined up, but also a smaller venue open mic comedy night happening at Atmos in downtown Thunder Bay. Each open mic show will have a feature act at the end of the night but also include newcomers trying standup for the first time and seasoned comedians honing their craft.

We are also reaching out to smaller neighboring cities to take Campfire Comedy on the road this summer and spread the laughter even more.

As always, we continue to offer private comedy shows for any occasion whether it be a backyard party with friends, a corporate event, or a virtual show.
