CHIPPEWA COUNTY, MICHIGAN  ~~~~~~  April 9, 2021  (LSN)  This past week Chippewa County Health Department (CCHD) was approached by the Lake Carriers’ Association and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to collaborate on vaccinating crew members on the Great Lakes’ area ships. Since that proposal which was presented on Monday, CCHD staff will have vaccinated approximately 50 crew members on five ships with additional crew members to be vaccinated next week. The crews are receiving Johnson & Johnson vaccine and second dose Moderna vaccine.

NORTHERN, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~  April 6, 2021  (LSN)  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding Wisconsinites to get ready for the upcoming 2021 spring turkey hunt happening April 21 - June 1.

The 2021 spring turkey hunt includes six, seven-day periods running Wednesday through the following Tuesday. Each of the DNR’s seven turkey management zones will be open for hunting.

Today, all of Wisconsin is at very high fire danger. The combination of dry vegetation, unseasonably warm temperatures, low relative humidity and increasing south or southeast winds will lead to continued elevated fire weather conditions.
