Season 60 2022
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~ December 13, 2021 (LSNews) With the holiday season on the horizon and a new year just around the corner, the TBSO is pleased to announce the schedule for the second half of its diamond Season.
During the first half of Season 60, audience members enjoyed the long-awaited return of Music Director Paul Haas. It had been 20 months since he was able to join the symphony musicians in Thunder Bay. There were also multiple standing ovations for featured artists, Thomas Cosbey, Nancy Freeborn, and Madonna Lee, to name a few.
The second half of the season will thrill patrons and audiences. The TBSO is ecstatic to return to the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium as they open their doors once again for the return of Masterworks and Pops series performances. The TBSO was the last show on the TBCA stage in March of 2020, and we’re honoured to be the first show on reopening.
The Masterworks series will launch with Celebrating Genius on January 13, 2022, with remarkable pieces by Glass, Rautavaara, and Beethoven and featuring guest artist Yaroslav Senyshyn treating audiences to a dazzling piano concerto by Canada’s own Larysa Kuzmenko.
The Pops series opens with the long-awaited presentation of Piano Men, featuring the incomparable Jim Witter and the iconic music of Billy Joel and Elton John.
There will also be several more performances of the Hilldale Concert Series featuring the always cherished composers Mozart, McGrath, Stravinsky, and Schubert, to name a few. Plus, Jazz lovers will not be disappointed with a Northern Lights performance featuring Robin Ranger.
All music lovers are guaranteed to find a show to love.
Select concert tickets will be available starting Wednesday, December 15th. For complete concert details or to purchase your tickets, visit www.tbso.ca.
While showtimes are released, and tickets are sold, the TBSO continues to be vigilant in adhering to public safety guidelines. In the best interest of the audience, musicians, staff, and volunteers, programs and showtimes are subject to change.
