Art Colony, we are using this time to set our compass

Art Colony, we are using this time to set our compass

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA,  ~~~  May 4, 2020  (LSN)  At the Art Colony, we are using this time to set our compass, to adjust, measure, and mark, so that we can travel purposefully in our missional direction:

Creating space, time, and mentoring opportunities,
that allow you to offer your work to the world

Thanks to your support and engagement, this is the advocacy and empowering work that we've been doing for almost 75 years. When magnetic north has moved in new ways throughout our history, we have pivoted to continue pointing in the right direction. And we are re-calibrating now, in order to allow the arts to flourish on the North Shore and beyond.

May 1 - 8 launches the Give at Home MN campaign, a statewide drive to support nonprofits affected by COVID-19. Click here, to learn more and support the essential work of the Art Colony.

APOSTLE, ISLANDS, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~~~ June 28, 2021  (LSN)   The brains behind the SeaCavesWatch.org website have developed a new website that offers real-time wave condition information for the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Lake Superior. Before venturing onto the lake, paddlers and boaters should check WISC-Watch (https://go.wisc.edu/7y2x4o), which stands for Water Information for a Safe Coast Watch. The WISC-Watch site provides information from seven spotter buoys recently deployed throughout the islands, plus Chequamegon Bay near Ashland and Siskiwit Bay near Cornucopia. The buoys monitor wave height, water temperature and wind information.

Very High Fire Danger Across Wisconsin

James Brown 0 2716 Article rating: No rating

MADISON, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~~~~  May 14, 2021  (LSN)  The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking the public to stay vigilant and avoid burning because of very high fire danger across Wisconsin, particularly in the northern two-thirds of the state.

The increased fire danger is due to the low relative humidities expected across the state, with the lowest values expected across northern Wisconsin. Temperatures will be warm and the air over Wisconsin will be dry, which are weather conditions that aid in the spread of fires.
