All The Daze presents Les Misérables

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - November 19, 2018 (LSN) The idea of performing Les Misérables first formed in the fantasies of a small group of homeschooled children. The idea was rekindled after that group flash mobbed their family in their Fernie condo during an impromptu performance of “Do You Hear the People Sing?”. The process of bringing, the world’s longest running musical, Les Misérables, to Thunder Bay started in January of 2018. Marcia Arpin, Melesa Hane, and Beth Boone started brainstorming venues, costumes, and cast. Auditions were held in July and a cast was born. 40 youth, age 10-18, will be filling the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium stage on November 29, 30, and December 1 to fulfill these childhood dreams.
The Daze Productions has been producing amazing children's theatrical productions since Pippi Longstocking in 2016. Children love All The Daze because it gives them a safe place to learn and perform live theatre. With her biggest undertaking yet, Marcia Arpin is directing Les Misérables.
Les Misérables is a show of injustice, misery, and unrequited love. With epic battles, untimely deaths, a lavish wedding, and of course soul-stirring musical numbers, Les Mis is a timeless musical. Adapted from Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel, the Alain Boublil/Claude-Michel Schönberg mega-musical debuted in London in 1985 and has been taking people’s breath away ever since. Three plus decades later, it’s been seen by more than 70 million people in 44 countries around the world and translated into 22 languages. This very special cast and crew can’t wait to wow you with their version of this World Famous Musical.
Gabriel Marchuk who was cast as Javert said “I was super excited: I had to think if it was realistic or not. I knew I really wanted to take part in this production.”
When the first rehearsal came around, everyone was dumbfounded by the talent in the room. Olivia Boone, who plays Eponine, thought to herself “Wow these people are amazing! Who are they?”. Gabriel Marchuk said, “I didn’t realize how big the play actually is until we were all in a room together.” Charlie Lockyer who plays the well-known innkeeper Thenardier said: “I really don’t know what to say, this is just such a talented cast.”
For some of the cast, Les Misérables was something new but for actor Mya Hane it was a lifelong dream. “I have wanted to do Les Mis since I was 7 or 8 when we saw the live performance in Toronto. Being cast as Cosette was just the icing on the cake”.
Les Misérables will be running at The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium from November 29 to December 1. Evening performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7 pm. A special school matinee will be held at 10 am on Friday. For tickets visit www.tbca.com.
