Minneapolis, MN – January 25, 2018 (LSN) With Minnesota’s 10-day Super Bowl festival opening tomorrow, the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee and the Loppet Foundation announced a full schedule of outdoor winter activities that will take place on the Nicollet Mall and the snow-covered American Birkebeiner International Bridge at Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon. Everything from snow tubing to cross-country skiing to fat biking will be available to the public on the Loppet Trail spanning across the American Birkebeiner International Bridge at Nicollet Mall and 9th Street. Spectators and participants alike will enjoy a full lineup of daily winter programming, brought to Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon by the Loppet Foundation and industry partners including Penn Cycle, Finn Sisu, and others.
“We are going all in on winter events this year. The City of Lakes Loppet Festival has grown to become a winter staple in Minneapolis, and we’re thrilled to give Super Bowl fans a sampling of how we do things in the Bold North through this partnership,” said John Munger, Executive Director of the Loppet Foundation.
“Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon is our opportunity to showcase the best of Minnesota,” said Maureen Bausch, CEO of the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee. “We are thrilled to partner with the Loppet Foundation and the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation to welcome our visitors and celebrate winter, football, and fun in the Bold North.”
The full schedule is available online at (loppet.org/SBLive). Pre-registration is required to participate in events. Those interested in snow tubing, cross-country skiing, or fat biking on Loppet Trail can simply sign up online, present their confirmation to a Loppet Trail staff, and gear-up for some good old-fashioned winter fun in the Bold North.
The American Birkebeiner International Bridge is normally used during the American Birkebeiner, North America’s largest cross-country ski race held each February in Hayward, WI. The Bridge is on loan to the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee for Super Bowl LIVE festivities and programming with the Loppet Foundation.
The winter activities taking place at the Loppet Trail on the American Birkebeiner International Bridge are part of the winter fun happening at Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon. The ten-day, free and open to the public festival will also include concerts at the VerizonUp stage, larger-than-life ice sculptures, and more.
