The close cooperation between CBP and the military is part of Operation Secure Line, which includes CBP deploying personnel and resources to the region.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  November 4, 2018  (LSN)  In a year marked by large, problematic forest fires burning relatively close to populations, properties and major travel corridors in the province’s Northeast Fire Region, a busy though less visible fire season unfolded in the more remote corners of the Northwest Region.

The Northwest Region claimed 839 of the provincial total of 1325 fires, easily outstripping the 10 year average for all fires across the province (756). The Northwest Region accounted for 213,695 hectares or 77 per cent of the total hectares affected by wildland fire in the province (276,356 hectares).

Canada’s legalization of marijuana will not change CBP’s enforcement of United States laws regarding controlled substances. Requirements for international travelers wishing to enter the United States are governed by and conducted in accordance with U.S. federal law. Although medical and recreational marijuana may be legal in some U.S. states and Canada, the sale, possession, production and distribution of marijuana or the facilitation of the aforementioned remain illegal under U.S. federal law. Crossing the border or arriving at a U.S. port of entry in violation of this law may result in seizure, fines, and/or arrest and impact admissibility.

The principle recommendation from the Study is to expand on the current jail and Law Enforcement Center site to accommodate a 12-month County Jail Program. This will include additional space for jail, program, Dispatch and Law Enforcement operations and Emergency Operations Center space.

THUNDER BAY, ONTAIRO - August 20, 2018  (LSN)  I had found out recently that my children who attend Vance Chapman school were not allowed to have school transportation this year, due to the changes that were made this year. According to the school transportation my children who are in grade 8 age 13 grade 6 age 11 and grade 4 age 9 did not qualify for busing. It was explained to me that children in grades 4 and up within 1.6 kms of the school would have to walk or find their own transportation to school. My issue is my 9 year old daughter who has always been in the bus now has to walk to school

“In order to ensure that there is widespread input, the Board has launched a confidential survey that is open to all members of the community,” said Jackie Dojack, Chair of the Board. “The Board knows that in order to secure the best person for the job of Chief of Police, it is critical that we understand the views and thoughts of all who are served by the Thunder Bay Police Service.”
