THUNDER BAY, ON - 21 January, 2010 – Bruce Hyer, MP offered his heartfelt congratulations to Joe Comuzzi on the former MP’s appointment to the International Joint Commission (IJC), and his recent election as Chair of the Canadian Section of the Commission. The IJC is a joint US-Canada binational body set up in 1909 to resolve and prevent disputes over boundary waters, and to advise the two countries about water resources.
“I am very pleased that Joe Comuzzi has been elected Canadian Chair of the International Joint Commission.” said Hyer, Water Critic for the New Democrats. “With years of service in Parliament, a wealth of experience on committees, and intimate knowledge of our region and the many issues facing the Great Lakes, the IJC has chosen wisely. This appointment will be a boon to the entire region and the IJC alike, and I am confident that Joe will make an excellent Chair. Heartfelt congratulations are in order to Joe.”
Comuzzi was initially appointed to the IJC as part of the Canadian Section on January 15, 2010.
