St. Cloud, MN. May 11, 2011: Minnesota Waters, the statewide non-profit dedicated to empowering 
citizens to protect and improve the lakes and rivers of Minnesota, announces its 2011 awards nomination process is now open.
For its tenth consecutive year Minnesota Waters will spotlight the top citizen volunteers who have done amazing things for their lake or river from across the state. The winners will be celebrated and awards will be presented at Minnesota Waters’ annual RiverNight celebration, August 17, 2011 on Harriet Island, St. Paul, MN.
Each winner will receive an honorary plaque, two tickets to RiverNight 2011, and $1,000 to continue their good work. Submissions for the awards will be accepted through Friday, May 27. Nomination forms can be found at http://www.minnesotawaters.org. Winners will be announced mid-June, 2011.

"Each year, this event gains momentum and prestige making it the ultimate platform for citizen volunteers from across the state to be celebrated."
Minnesota Waters believes an engaged citizenry will effectively protect and restore Minnesota’s irreplaceable natural assets -- clean and healthy lakes and streams -- for current and future generations. The non-profit organization provides training, connections and support to empower citizens and citizen-led groups to be active, effective advocates for Minnesota’s unique waterscape.
