Car Raffle Continues Critical Support of Cardiac Care
Ryan Witiluk, General Manager, Balmoral Park Acura, presents the keys of a
brand new 2016 Acura ILX to the Grand Prize winner of the 2016
Save a Heart Car Raffle, Robert Gashinski. Gashinski was
beyond thrilled by the win and emotionally shared that his ticket purchases
and win were dedicated to the memory of his mother who passed away from a heart attack.

Thunder Bay, ON --- March 8, 2016  ----Today, the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation celebrated the winners of its sixth annual Save a Heart Car Raffle.

The grand prize winner, Robert Gashinski, drove away in his new 2016 Acura ILX, generously donated outright by Balmoral Park Acura, allowing more funds to go directly to cardiac care. “Excellent cardiac care is a must have in this community,” said Ryan Witiluk, General Manager, Balmoral Park Acura. “We are so proud to stand behind this raffle to ensure people who need life-saving cardiac care have it and have it here.”

Other prize winners included Bruce Moratz, second prize winner of the 2 return trips to any Porter Airlines scheduled destination, donated by Porter Airlines, Dennis Orr, third prize winner of a Chef’s Tasting Dinner for 10 at Runway 25, donated by the Valhalla Inn and John Hill, fourth prize winner of a 55” Samsung TV with Polk audio wireless sound bar, donated by Best Buy.

All proceeds from the Save a Heart Car Raffle support the Northern Cardiac Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. 100% of the proceeds remain in Northwestern Ontario to fund cardiac care at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. This year, $60,000 was raised through ticket sales, bringing the 6-year total to over $267,000 to ensure the care cardiac patients need is available to them, close to home. This year funds will be used specifically for the new C-arm (specialized x-ray equipment) that was recently installed in the cath lab.

Glenn Craig, President and CEO, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, confirmed how important community support is to the future of cardiac care. “Thanks to Balmoral Park Acura and events like the Save a Heart Car Raffle and Ball, cardiac care at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has never been better. We have two Cardiac Catheterization Labs that provide 24/7 angioplasty close to home, and new equipment to ensure clearer images, and faster and safer procedures. Our community firmly stands behind our cardiac care team and support their efforts to expand our program to a future that includes a cardiovascular surgery program here at the Health Sciences Centre.”
