Due to tremendous popular demand!

THUNDER BAY, ON - September 24, 2009 - Magnus Theatre is excited to announce that HANK WILLIAMS: THE SHOW HE NEVER GAVE by Maynard Collins, has been extended to Saturday October 3, 2009. “Hank Williams is a phenomenal success for Magnus! Many of the 20 performances, during the initial two and a half week run, are sold out. To accomodate the scores of people who would still love the opportunity to see a performance, we have decided
to hold the show over for one additional week.” says Artistic Director Mario Crudo.

This play with music presents the concert Hank Williams never actually made it to on New Year's Eve in 1953.  It is the concert as it might have played out if Williams had not died in the back seat of his Cadillac on his way to the performance. While relating his version of an entertainer's life and self-inflicted hard times, Williams performs over a dozen of his hits including Your Cheatin' Heart, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, and I Saw The Light.

The part of Hank Williams is played by Thunder Bay’s own Danny Johnson, backed up by four very talented local musicians. Magnus Theatre is very proud to be presenting all local artists on stage. Rob Jardine, a member of the Lakehead University Faculty of Music, and the Audio Director at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, plays the steel guitar, internationally renowned fiddler Pierre Schryer who performs on one of his own customed designed violins, David Smyth who has worked with the likes of Denny Doherty of The Mama’s And The Papa’s and has composed, directed, and performed in dozens of musicals, is on guitar, and Dan
Zadkovich, owner/operator of the Lakehead School of Music and member of the band 21 Gun Fun, plays the double bass.
