THUNDER BAY, ON  ----  July 30,2012 ----   “We are extremely pleased to confirm that our new Thunder Bay Marathon - Miles with the Giantmarathon and half marathon courses are fully Boston Certified with Athletics Canada”, says President and Chair, Barry Streib.  “The new course features a start/finish at Prince Arthur’s Landing and travels some of Thunder Bay’s best recreation trails and most scenic streets including through our Lakehead University and Confederation College campuses, Chapples Park, Boulevard Lake and Centennial Park.”

The Board of Directors of the Thunder Bay Marathon - Miles with the Giant are pleased to announce the course details for the marathon, half-marathon, 10K and 5K family fun run on September 23, 2012.

“Awareness of our event continues to grow within elite athlete circles.  We have been contacted by interested elite runners from Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States who want to run our marathon,” says Streib.  “In addition, the marathon-relay event is a new feature that brings together teams of 5 to run the 26.2 mile marathon course.  The third annual Miles with the Giant race weekend will bring together runners, walkers and wheelers of all ages and skill level.”

Early bird discount pricing ends at midnight on July 31st.  Registration costs start at $90 for the marathon, $70 for the half-marathon, $40 for the 10K and $25 for the 5K family fun run/walk.

Volunteers are still needed to help make the Thunder Bay Marathon-Miles with the Giant a huge success.  We encourage those who want to get involved to sign up online for our volunteer opportunities – whether individually or with a group of friends or colleagues.  High school students will be able to claim their time towards high school credit requirements.
