Giant Gymnastics ends season winning

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO,  ----   March 18, 2015  ---  Team Giant Gymnastics had another successful weekend south of the border.  24 gymnasts travelled to the Minneapolis area to compete in 3 different divisions – Xcel Gold, Platinum and Diamond.

First Place team awards were won in the Platinum division (Ella Sigfried, Mallori Turcotte, Grace Gaudino, Sarah Currie, Kaitlyn Sloan, Piper Plavins, Chloe Holder, Taylor Giertuga, Jillian Manol, Jordan Kutok, and Brooke Rajala) and Diamond division (Jacqueline Dube, JoJo Ertl, Abby Fontaine, Hayley Swift, Eva Shubert and Amanda Hulina).

Standout individual performances were made in the Gold 13 & Up category by Anna Lehtinen (2nd on Vault and Bars).  As well Tiana Lomabardo (1st Floor and 3rd All Around) and Emily McCallum (3rd Vault) shined in the Gold 10 & under category and Abbey Lazinski came 2nd on Floor in the 12 year old category.
In the Platinum division plenty of medals were captured in the age 12 & Under category by Ella Sigfried(1st Floor, 3rd Vault and 2nd All Around), Mallori Turcotte (3rd Beam, 1st Floor and 3rd All Around), Grace Gaudino(3rd Vault, 1st Floor), Sarah Currie (3rd floor), Kaitlyn Sloan (2nd bars).  In the 13 & Up category Chloe Holder ended her career with an outstanding finishing (2nd All Around, 1st Vault, 3rd Floor).
Other standout performances came from the Diamond Team with Jacqueline Dube placing 1st on vault, 3rd on floor and and 3rd All Around; JoJo Ertl winning the Floor; and Amanda Hulina placing top 3 on Vault, bars and floor.  Hulina had an unfortunate fall in beam warm up that left her out of medal contention for the All Around.

Giant Gymnastics coaches are proud of their team as every athlete either moved up a category and/or performed new elements this competition.  We look forward to even more amazing results next season.
