“If re-elected I will continue to represent and identify relevant concerns of parents, students and the broader community and take those issues to the board table. I will continue to assist parents, students and the public with their questions or concerns.”
“If I receive your support I will continue to focus on student achievement while ensuring the Board’s resources are well managed. My other priorities will be environmental and fiscal responsibility.”
“I am pleased to acknowledge that the goals I had set for myself as a trustee are being met. Since this group of trustees was elected confidence in this Board has grown. There has been stabilization in our student population; negligible transfers to other boards. We are keeping schools open; I supported the decision to reverse the closure of Sherbrooke Public School. The importance of community schools has been recognized; I supported the decision to construct the new high school (Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute) on the old Balsam St School site maintaining it in the PACI/Hillcrest neighbourhood.
I have worked to improve communication between this Board and its many stakeholders including parents, students, employees and the community at large. I recommended community consultation to bring information to the public regarding the new high school. I supported the inclusion of many groups in the development of the Board Strategic Plan with emphasis on Student, Staff and System Success.
“I look forward to continuing to represent you as a trustee.”
