Beyond the Horizon
Thursday, January 19, 2012 • 8:00 p.m.
Tim Brady, electric guitar
20 Community electric guitarists
This program of musical landscapes opens with Nielsen’s expansive poem to the power and glory of the sun. Stravinsky’s brilliant 1919 Firebird brought new sounds to the symphonic stage and announced the arrival of a composer who would change the face of symphonic music. A century after Stravinsky’s now-classic debut, Canadian guitarist Tim Brady picks up the gauntlet and launches the symphony into another new era.
7:10 p.m – Pre-Concert Chat Join Resident Conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, on the Mezzanine Level (2nd floor) at 7:10 p.m., for a discussion about tonight’s concert. Open to all patrons with a ticket to this Masterworks concert.
