About Beyond the Horizon
Beyond the Horizon is the third concert in the Thunder Bay Symphony’s Masterworks Series and takes place Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.
This program of musical landscapes opens with Nielsen’s expansive poem to the power and glory of the sun. Stravinsky’s brilliant 1919 Firebird brought new sounds to the symphonic stage and announced the arrival of a composer who would change the face of symphonic music. A century after Stravinsky’s now-classical debut, Canadian guitarist Tim Brady picks up the gauntlet and launches the symphony into another new era.
