FORT FRANCES, ON  ----      October 25, 2011   __  Andrew Coates of Frankfort, Illinois, pleaded guilty to having 13 walleye over the legal limit in his possession.

The court heard that on July 24, 2011, a conservation officer was performing a routine inspection on Little Pine Lake near Highway 71. Coates had his legal limit of walleye on his boat, but further investigation revealed he had more fish frozen at his camp.

Justice of the Peace Pat Clysdale-Cornell heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Fort Frances, on October 14, 2011.

The ministry reminds anglers that an individual may not have more fish than the possession limit of that species.  Possession includes storing fish at home or other locations, as well as transporting them and holding them in live wells.

To report a natural resources violation, call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time or contact your local ministry office during regular business hours.  You can also call Crime Stoppers
