THUNDER BAY, ON  ---  June 17, 2011 ----  In celebration of National Aboriginal Day on June 21st, First Nation Gospel Concertvarious gospel artists from around the region will come together to perform at a gospel concert taking place at the Heritage Building on the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition (CLE) grounds in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The event is open to the public and will feature performances by Cree and Ojibwa Singers, members of the Thunder Bay Legends, and additional acts from various communities in Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba. 

Welcoming remarks will be provided by Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Stan Beardy and City of Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs.  

Media are welcome to attend the event.

The first official National Aboriginal Day, June 21st, was proclaimed by the Governor General of Canada in June, 1996. This day celebrates and recognizes the culture and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis people of Canada.

“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” The event will celebrate the Lord’s goodness and blessings upon our lives.
