Wake up with the Wolves #LSN_Sports

Thunder Bay, ON ---- September 21, 2016  (LSN) The 'CBC Wakes up with the Wolves!' special is a chance for players on the Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team to experience 'something different' in advance of their 2016-2017 regular season, says the school's athletics director.

Tom Warden was a guest on CBC Thunder Bay's Superior Morning on Tuesday. He said that players are ready for a new challenge as training camp winds down.

"This adds another element, another thing to keep the guys excited," he said.

The special one hour Blue vs White intrasquad exhibition game is slated for September 26 at the Fort William Gardens starting at 7:00 a.m. Lisa Laco and the Superior Morning team will broadcast live from the gardens that morning.

Arena doors open at 6:00 a.m., and coffee and Timbits will be on hand for the first 300 people; in addition, people can win plenty of Thunderwolves and CBC swag.

The fast-paced, three-period game will feature the blue and white Thunderwolves teams competing in full uniform with officials on the ice, and all the touches of a regular season game, including the fully-lit scoreboard, in-arena music, the singing of O Canada and Wolfie.

"Wolfie will be there — we had to do a little contract negotiation with him," Warden laughed.
Finally, the CBC Blue vs. White trophy will be on the line.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves kick off their season September 30 against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. Conference play for the 'Wolves starts October 14 against the Windsor Lancers.
