NOSTA looking forward to its 40th year


THUNDER BAY ON  ---- December 1, 2013On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 the Tourism Industry will gather at the Thunder Bay Victoria Inn for the 39th annual general meeting Tim Lukinukof the North of Superior Travel Association. This annual gathering is a combination of the official business of the Association and an opportunity for networking and learning by the tourism industry in the Thunder Bay District.

Regional Tourism Networks in North Western Ontario 

Dr. Rhonda Koster, Director, School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism at Lakehead University will report on the question: “How is tourism working at a regional level?” This question guided a three year study with over 85 participants from Dorion to Manitouwadge, and with various government and related agencies responsible for tourism in Northern Ontario. Dr. Koster will provide an overview of the study’s findings, focusing on four key themes: Leadership, Partnership, Product and Knowledge.

What’s in a Name

Dr. Mike Yuan, from Lakehead University’s School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism: will lead a session on the thought provoking question: “Does the use of the word North in a brand actually scare tourists away?”

Report of the President, financial reports and a look at where NOSTA plans on going in the next number of years will all be part of the day’s activities. So too will be the election of officers for the upcoming year.

The day begins at 2:00 PM with the formal AGM commencing at 5 PM. Dinner will be held starting at 5:45 PM all at the Victoria Inn and Conference Centre in Thunder Bay. Tourism stakeholders and interested members of the public are invited to attend.

There is no requirement for advance registration nor is there a registration fee, however, each participant will order and pay for their own dinner and refreshments.
