About Brian Jackson
Brian Jackson is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Victoria Symphony. His innovative pops programming has made him Canada’s favourite pops Conductor. He not only arranges and orchestrates many of the scores, but in many cases plays and conducts from the keyboard.
At the age of 25 he was the youngest Music Director in Canada, with the Peterborough Symphony, and since that time has conducted all of the major Canadian orchestras.
Maestro Jackson was Music Director of the Kingston Symphony (which included the Kingston Choral Society) for over a decade and has led orchestras in the United Kingdom, Europe, United States and South America. He has conducted the Canadian Opera Company, Opera Lyra Ottawa, as well as in opera houses in Germany, Austria, Holland and Switzerland.
A graduate of Oxford University and a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, Mr. Jackson was a studio Manager at the BBC before emigrating to Canada in 1968 to begin his 40 year conducting career.
