THUNDER BAY, ON  ----   September 30, 2011  ---   DST Consulting Engineers were announced the winners of the DST Consulting Engineers Northern Ontario Business Award for Innovation.  This award honours DST for their progressive approach to engineering in Northern Ontario. DST, a Thunder Bay company operating in Northern Ontario for over 40 years, has earned a reputation for taking on tough tasks and delivering outstanding, innovative and “green” engineering  solutions.  “We always look for the best solution to a project and how we can minimize the client’s costs, but also minimize the environmental impact” said Dr. Myint Win Bo, Senior Principal and Partner.

The Northern Ontario Business Award ceremony was held in Sudbury earlier this week.  “Our creed is all about providing unconventional solutions to complicated engineering challenges, to be recognized amongst our peers for our innovative use of new technologies and techniques is indeed an honour” says DST founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mike Fabius. The award was based on numerous projects managed by DST that used outside-the-box solutions that not only save clients time and money, but are also environmentally friendly.  DST is equipment oriented and have developed new testing methods that are not only more precise, but also shave months off of conventional soil testing methods, allowing the design and construction process to commence much more quickly than in current practices.

DST is no stranger to the podium.  The company took top honours in 2010 and 2011, winning the prestigious Consulting Engineers of Ontario “Award of Excellence”.   DST is also a three-time winner of the Northern Ontario Business Awards having won Company of the Year in 1995 and again in 2006.

DST is a firm of engineers, scientists and contractors established in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1971.  This year marks the 40th Anniversary of DST, and their offices now extend throughout the country.
