THUNDER BAY, ON  ---  July 30, 2015 –--- The City of Thunder Bay’s Crime Prevention Council today announced the third annual edition of City Hall Sounds, which brings live entertainment, great local food, and other activities to McGillivray Square - the public space in front of City Hall.

“City Hall Sounds brings such an energy to the Square,” said the Mayor. “I invite everyone to come out and participate in these awesome community building events and enjoy the urban public space at City Hall. It’s a great way to spend a lunch hour and contributes to our community.”

City Hall Sounds will run each Thursday in August from 12 - 1 pm. Each event will include live music, food trucks, and community partner information booths. City Hall Sounds is open to the public and everyone is welcome. City Hall Sounds is an initiative of the Crime Prevention Council’s Strong Neighbourhoods Working Group. Crime Prevention Coordinator Lee-Ann Chevrette said the event is important to building a stronger, safer Thunder Bay.

“Vibrant, well-used public space is associated with lower crime rates,” said Chevrette. “When you offer positive, inclusive social activities in public space, you increase the vitality of an area, and people feel welcome and safe. The success of City Hall Sounds shows Thunder Bay residents are on board with the City’s efforts to reduce crime, and increase community safety and inclusion.”

City Hall Sounds will feature live performances from local musicians. The entertainment schedule for the series is as follows:

  •     Thursday, Aug. 6 – Robin Ranger
  •     Thursday, Aug. 13 – Elle Kay/Tom Pugliese
  •     Thursday, Aug. 20 – Camden Blues
  •     Thursday, Aug. 27 – Timothy Albertson and Tina Lynn
