The new owner was expected to be in Thunder Bay sometime in the near future and at that time there will be a public announcement. According to Kathy Bukovy, Community Relations Representative at McDonald's, they will be making a statment about the sales in the near future.

The New owner, who was in Thunder Bay on Monday, stated in an email "the restaurants are now LOCALLY OWNED following the recent purchase of the 5 facilities from McDonald's Restaurants of Canada. Our Head Office has maintained ownership over the market for the past 9 years since the untimely passing of Mr. Jim McCauley in 2002.

As of November 28th of this year, I have been granted the sincere opportunity to move into Thunder Bay & work alongside some of the best people in the business!"

Lake Superior News wish the new ower all the best.   If a business is owned by someone who lives in Thunder Bay they will have a better understand of the needs of our community.  Too many business are run from corporate office some where in the the world and do not know anything about the needs of the people of Thunder Bay or where it is located.  Jim McCauley who founded McDonald;s in Thunder Bay was a person who cared about his community and his staff and customers and his community leadership has been sadly missed over the past 9 years.
