Mitchell Feller

Thunder Bay, ON – October 31, 2016  (LSN) The Thunder Bay Border Cats are pleased to announce the signing of their new field manager for the 2017 summer. Mitchell Feller, from South Dakota State University, has been chosen to lead the Cats on the field after the team came off a summer that included only 21 wins.
When asked about the recruiting process and what he was looking for General Manager Dan Grant responded, “We weren’t looking necessarily for what schools they are at or have been at. We were looking for someone who has proven they can manage through adversity and be a professional. Mitchell was that guy.”
Grant said they were also on the lookout for someone who understood the importance of being impactful in the Thunder Bay community as it is a main objective of the Border Cats.
President Kyle Smith added, “During the interview process it quickly became clear that Mitch was the right choice to lead the Cats. His passion for winning while improving the career prospects for his players is a characteristic that fans will appreciate."
Coach Feller shared his thoughts Monday, after being asked about joining the Border Cats for their pivotal 2017 season,
"I first want to thank the Border Cats organization for allowing this opportunity to coach the club this summer. I am excited to get things going and arrive in Thunder Bay. I look forward to working with Dan and the rest of the organization to build something great in Thunder Bay for the fans.” Feller continued, “It is an honor to be the new Border Cats head coach, and in one of the premier league's in the country that the Northwoods League has become. I look forward to trying to bring a championship back to Thunder Bay."
The 2017 Northwoods League schedule is set to be released at the end of November. To stay up to date on all the latest information from the Cats you can visit their website at
